Nine days until grant applications must be postmarked!

Grant applications must be postmarked by October 15. We received several excellent questions yesterday:

Do I need to have every detail of my plans worked out before I send in the application?

We do need to see detailed planning, including letters of support from all the key people and venues involved. You don’t have to commit to a particular date a year in advance. But if you’re planning an event at the library, you need to include a letter from the library saying that they want to host your event. If you have not yet chosen performers, show us that you have a track record of putting on this sort of event. We want to fund events and projects that we are sure will happen.

How much information should I put on the application form?

You should include as much information as you can fit and still have it be readable. We photocopy the completed application forms and distribute them to all of the members of the Medford Arts Council to evaluate.

How much supporting material should I include with my application?

We want to see any supporting material that will tell us more about your plans and about the key people or groups involved. Try to consolidate supporting material onto fewer pages or include a one-page summary of the additional material. We photocopy and distribute only the supporting material that seems key to understanding the application fully, and we review other supplementary material when questions arise during our evaluation of the grant applications.
